Commemorative Sign 27 Death Valley De Peel

Here in Ommel, a commemorative plaque shows that Heinrich Hoffer, a one-armed major, led a cavalry of 70 Germans on horseback against a superior force of English tanks and machine guns. On September 22, 1944, Hoffer's maneuver would be the last classic cavalry charge in Western military history.
