Belgian War Graves Lesterny

Lesterny Communal Cemetery contains two war graves from the Second World War.

Albert LOUVIAUX : born in Bure on October 30, 1916.
He was a soldier in the 2nd reg. Ardennes Hunters 3rd Bat 8th Comp.
On May 19, 1940 he was seriously injured during German attempts to cross the Dender between Gijzegem and Oudegem. He died in hospital from his injuries on May 21.

Omer MARESCHAL : Political prisoner died for Belgium.
Born in 1896, former student of the University of Liège.
He was an active member of the secret army. In 1944 he was arrested and deported to Neuengamme where he died on December 1, 1944.
