Presidio of Monterey

The Presidio of Monterey was built by the Spaniards in 1770, making it one of the oldest military bases in the US. During the Second World War, the headquarters of the 3rd Army Corps was located here. In 1945 the base became a school for soldiers who had to carry out occupation missions. In 1946 the Presidio was given a new function: The Army's Language School. The base is still operational.
