Borg Nienoord Leek

People in hiding on the Borg Nienoord.

In the summer of 1941 and 1942, the empty deposit was a safe haven for students of the University of Groningen. Their program consisted of jobs in the dilapidated bail and stables.
Because the deposit was empty and it was a quiet area on the estate, it was very suitable to accommodate people in hiding. The following people were in hiding:
Ten-year-old Alie Zijp delivered ration cards in the Westerkwartier.
Kees Kleiker worked as a photographer and helped the resistance.
Folkert Donkerbroek helped on his father's farm and goes on the run.
Selma and Hertha Denneboom are taught at the Jewish School. Until 1942 they went into hiding with their mother Eva Denneboom at the bail and then in Zeist.
