Colorado Springs Airport (Peterson Field)

Colorado Springs Airport was taken over by the AAF in May 1942 as Air Support Command Base. Exactly one year later, the headquarters of the 2nd AF was established here. The airfield was renamed Peterson Field in 1943. The base was used for training purposes. Today the airport is in both civilian and military use.
