Memorial 39th Fusiliers Regiment

On the roof of the Panzerwerk is a memorial for the 39th Fusiliers Regiment from Düsseldorf with "Cross-Crosslet" the symbol of the unit.

On the remains of a bunker, next to a German Cross, two marble plates have been placed with the following text:
"In 1939 and 1940 there were soldiers of the 39th Fusiliers Regiment from Düsseldorf in Irrel and the surrounding area.
From here they left in the 2nd World War.
More than 4,000 of them never returned.
Remember them and do not forget them".
Friends Association of the former 39th Düsseldorf.

The second plate contains the dates of their deployment during their campaign.
1940: France and Czech Republic Aisne (Aisne – Canal – Vonco (Brno)
1941: Germany and Russia (From the Upper Danube to Koschewnikowo (Tomsk))
1942: Russia (from before Moscow to Bolkhov (Orel))
1943: Russia (From the Don River to the Orel Salient)
1944: Russia and Poland (from Gorky to the Weichsel river)
1945: Belgium (Ardennes and Bastogne)

At the foot is a broken stele with the names of the fallen soldiers during the Poland campaign in 1939.
