Bunker BN7, sector Briegden-Neerharen. Located along the Canal at Lanaken. This bunker was equipped with Maxim machine guns and an additional embrasure for a machine gun.
The bunker was made of 1.30 m thick reinforced concrete at the front, the rear where no attack was expected was between 80 cm and 1 m thick reinforced concrete. With this, the bunker could withstand shells of 150 mm.
Also visible in photo 5 are the so-called "grenade gutters. This gutter was closed on the inside with a metal valve. The gutter ran like a periscope. No shots could be fired from outside through this opening. If the enemy approached so far that the bunker could be taken at any time, these grenade chutes were used for proximity defense. Hang grenades were thus thrown outside to disable the enemy and then escape.
