Memorial Joseph Maurice Rousseau, 2 SAS Regiment

On May 8, 2023, a new memorial to Canadian Joseph Maurice Rousseau of the 2nd SAS Regiment was inaugurated at the Igney local cemetery. He died during a military action on September 17, 1944.

Joseph Maurice Rousseau, Canadian commander of the 10-man SAS team, "Independent Operation North of Loyton", landed in the area as a parachutist. He is buried in Ranville next to his brother, Joseph Philippe, who died in Calvados, Normandy.
