Machine gun bunker B is one of four bunkers on top of the canal embankment along the Albert Canal. The bunkers were built two by two in mirror position along the former railroad. The bunkers for 1 machine gun were so placed to give cross fire in the direction of the Albert Canal.
It is the 2nd bunker in a total of 6 bunkers (A-F) in this sector.
The round hole in photo 3 next to the intrance is a grenade launcher. Soldiers could use a periscope-shaped tube to drop a hand grenade outside from inside for close-range defense if the enemy got too close.
