Memorial Dorsetshire Regiment

The memorial commemorates the Dorset soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
The memorial is placed near the French village of Authuille, where the regiment crossed the front line in battle.
In total, more than 4,500 young men of Dorset were killed in the First World War; Another 16,000 survived, many with horrific injuries.

The monument was created by sculptors Zoe Cull and Alex Evans in their workshop in Bockhampton, near Dorchester.
