Memorial Cross Execution of Russian Forced Laborers Melick

This field cross on Wagsbergweg was erected in 2004 in memory of the execution of three Russian forced laborers by the German occupiers. Their bodies were buried in the cemetery for non-Christians, suiciders and unidentified people. A morgue used to stand where the cross stands. The date 1-11-1944 refers to the annual commemoration of the dead, and because the three Russians must have been executed around Nov. 1, 1944.
