Monument War Victims Vise

This memorial commemorates two residents of Vise who fell on the eve of the liberation of the city on September 11, 44.

According the site: bel-memorial.org

"in their enthousiasm to lead the American liberators to their town, they were shot by a German sniper"

G. Debefve (born at Visé)

M. Flohimont (born at visé)

Michel Flohimont was with the resistance and is buried at the field of honour 1940-45 at the Lorette cemetery at Visé. See photo 3-5.

On the grave the date of death is Semptember 12th 1944. On the monument de date is September 11th 1944. The differance between these dates can probably be explained by the day they were shot by the sniper and the date they died of their wounds/ ore date the docter declared the victim diseased.
