On 8 May 1995, near the entrance to the military cemetery, a ginkgo tree was planted on the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn on the occasion of the commemoration of the end of the Second World War (50 years earlier). This tree species was the first to bloom again after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. After about a year it bore green leaves again. Therefore, he has become a sign of hope for peace.
