Cenotaph Guy de Baillet Latour

The Baillet-Latour family was an aristocratic family, closely linked to the local history of the village. A special memorial place has been created at the cemetery for Henri and his son Guy.

Henri was a member of the International Olympic Committee in 1903, later president from 1925 to 1942. As chairman of the Belgian Olympic Committee, he organized the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp.

His son Guy de Baillet Latour was an intelligence officer in London serving the Belgian government. He died on 1 September 1941 in an aircraft accident on the Isle of Arran in Scotland while on assignment with the Free Belgian Forces. He is buried at Eton (United Kingdom).
