Memorial Bois-de-Breux

On the wall of the cemetery, next to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, is a memorial plaque for 6 executed citizens from Bois-de-Breux during the 1st World War.

They were executed on August 22, 1914.

DEFRÈRE Jean Baptiste (age 31)
RENER Jacques
CLAESSENS Jean Henri
HUBIN Joseph Léon (age 38)
FASSOTTE Jean Mathieu

Defrère André and Jean were brothers.

The ages of the other 3 are unknown.

Léon Hubin and Jean Claessens are buried in the cemetery behind.

The 6 executed are also commemorated on the monument on the square on the Rue de Herve. The left panel.

They are also commemorated on the stéles affixed to the municipal school of Bois-de-Breux. Allso, the left panel.
