Memorial Middendam Daknam

In 2008, an artistic memorial plaque was unveiled in the Middendam in Daknam on the occasion of the centenary of the Old Soldiers' Union.
The memorial plaque contains the core message of the association. "Trusting, Enduring and Endearing", listed in 17 languages.

Around 1908, at the initiative of several former conscripts from Daknam,
the patriotic association: "Society of Veterans Leopold I and II in Dacknam". In 1944 the name changed to "Old Soldiers' Union Daknam".

The aim of the association is to uphold the memory of his veterans and all those who sacrificed their lives for their country.
This is done by organizing and participating in various patriotic events
and other appropriate ceremonies and manifestations and through moral and material intervention in social and family events of the members.

By extension, effective membership is also offered to former soldiers from the Greater Daknam region and to all professional soldiers, members of the civilian staff of the Armed Forces and members of the Unity Police residing there.
In 2008, the title "Royal" was awarded to the association.
