Belgian War Graves Houdremont

The municipal cemetery of Houdremont contains several war graves of the second World War.

In one grave lie 2 brothers:
DION Maurice, civilian victim. He was shot by the Germans on the doorstep of
his home on August 23, 1944. He was 23 years old..
DION Paul, maquisard, was taken as a hostage by the Germans on the same day.
Died during deportation in Sandbostel, Lower Saxony.

LALLEMAND Rene : lieutenant 31st line 2nd battalion 7th comp.
He was killed on May 27, 1940 as a result of a gunshot wound during the last heavy Belgian resistance between Zonnebeke, Passendaele and Ypres. He was 25 years old at the time.
He was initially buried in Beselare, in December '40 he was reburied in Houdremont.

PAQUAY Henri: was captured on August 23, 1944, he stayed as a prisoner of war in Monthausen where he later died. He was 36 years old.
