Old Barracks Napoleon Road

The old barracks at the entrance to the Gondo Gorge was built around 1805, in the same period as the Napoleon Road, and was intended as a troop quarters for Napoleon Bonaparte's men.
The canton of Valais had the building renovated in the period 1999 – 2000.
An exhibition about the history of the Simplon roads was set up in the central part of the building in collaboration with the Ecomuseum Simplon.
Numerous photos and maps document the construction of the Simplon roads from Roman times to the present.
