Memorial Tyneside Scottish- and Irish Brigades
This memorial also known as the Tyneside Scottish and Irish Memorial Seat" was unveiled by Marshal Foch in 1920. It commemorates the soldiers of the "Tyneside Scottish" and "Tyneside Irish Brigades" who died here on 1 July 1916 during an attack as part of the Battle of the Somme.
