Remains Railway Bridge in the Zevenaar - Griethausen section

The Zevenaar - Griethausen railway line remained in use until 1946. In 1945, the English army built an extra bend in the railway line from Griethausen towards Emmerich and many troops and equipment were moved along this route.
On August 31, 1926, the section between Elten and Welle (including the ferry service) was taken out of use and this track was broken up in 1930.

Just before the end of the Second World War, a temporary railway bridge was constructed on the site of the railway ferry, with a connecting arch to the east on the Oberhausen - Emmerich railway line, for troop transport. From February 8 to 17, 1946, this bridge was closed due to high water. In 1946 this temporary railway line was broken up again.
