M4A2 Sherman Tank "Valois"

This M4A2 Sherman tank is standing here in memory of the tank battle at this crossroads and surrounding forrest between elements of the 2nd French Armoured Division and 9. Panzer-Division. During the fighting, 19 French soldiers were killed and buried on a small war cemetery not far from the tank. The tank itself bears on several places damage from the battle, like impacts of 20mm grenades on the side and AT grenade impacts on the front.
