The Heimatmuseum Niederense, located in Niederense, Germany, is a local history museum showcasing the region’s cultural heritage. Established in 1971, it is housed in the former Zum Westenbruch school and managed by the local historical association.
The museum features over 1,000 artifacts, including agricultural tools, household items, and historical documents. A dedicated exhibit, the Himmelpfortenzimmer, presents relics from the 1943 Möhne flood disaster, alongside film footage and firsthand accounts.
Notable displays include detailed models of Niederense, such as a 1700-era village replica and a reconstruction of Kloster Himmelpforten, which was lost in the Möhne flood. The museum is open on the first Sunday of each month from 15:00 to 18:00.
