The Beechwood tank, an M4A2(76)W HVSS Sherman "Easy 8" (Serial No. 69257), was built by Fisher and registered as No. 30129736, “Hussar,” painted DND 78-749. Listed by DND and a military tank preservation organization, it is one of 294 Sherman M4A3E8 tanks purchased by Canada in 1947 for Korean War service. Equipped with a long-barreled 76mm High Velocity gun, its HVSS suspension improved ride quality, earning it the nickname "Easy Eight." Canadians operated these tanks with distinction during the Korean War.
Previously a monument at the Canadian War Museum, it stood in front of the museum on Sussex Drive when it opened in 1967. Around 2004, it was relocated to the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa. It is now a memorial for the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's).
