This Sherman tank, built by Fisher in 1945, is a memorial to Fort Garry Horse.
In 1970, Calgary's Dutch residents gifted Winnipeg a tank to honor the Fort Garry Horse Regiment's role in Holland's liberation in 1944. Placed at Smith Street, Notre Dame Avenue, and King Street as a "permanent memorial," it soon faced vandalism. By September, complaints about militaristic displays led to its relocation for proper respect.
