Commonwealth War Graves Souilly

On the churchyard in Souilly are six Commonwealth war graves. These are the graves of F/O W.V.Gregson, Sgt H.McN.Gill, F/O R.H.Orr, Sgt E.J.Williams, Sgt P.J.Wenmoth and Sgt I.Illingworth.
On 27 August 1943 at 20:54 departed from airbase Breighton, the Halifax JD406 with the mission a raid over the city of Nuremberg (Nürnberg) in Germany. For unknown reasons it crashed into Souilly. In the crash, six crew members got killed, they are buried in this cemetery. One crew member survived the crash and was taken prisoner of war by the Germans.
