Fraser Gunnery Range, established around 1937 was originally a naval training site and later housed HMS St George, a Special Duties Officers' School. Used for gunnery practice, it featured 4.5" and 4.7" Quick Firing guns, Bofors guns, and missile launchers, supporting naval operations during the Cold War. Over time, it transitioned into radar research before closing in 2006. The site, named after Admiral of the Fleet Baron Bruce Fraser, was initially used for searchlight and sound locator training, pier building, and landing craft development between 1924 and 1937.
Fraser Gunnery Range remains derelict, with abandoned radar towers, bunkers, control buildings, and remnants of naval gunnery installations, such as mounts for 4.5" and 4.7" Quick Firing guns and Bofors guns.
