Long Curtain Battery

Long Curtain Battery, built in the 1860s, was part of Portsmouth's coastal defenses. Initially armed with seven 6-pounder quick-firing guns, it was later reduced to two by World War I and placed in reserve by 1919. The battery was disarmed between 1927 and 1939 and saw no use in World War II. Some structures remain, though part of the sea wall collapsed in 1996.
