St. John's Anglican church, Fremantle, contains Rolls of Honour for those parishioners who gave their lives in World War 1 (64 names) and World War 2 (47 names).
There are also several personal memorials here.

HMAS Perth, USS Houston and HNLMS Evertsen faced a major Imperial Japanese force in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra on the night of Feb 28- Mar 1 1942. After a battle lasting several hours, all three Allied ships were sunk with the loss of 1,071 killed and 675 taken prisoner, many of whom would die in captivity.

1901-2014
Claude joined the Royal Navy in 1917 and witnessed the surrender of the German Imperial Navy
in the Firth of the Forth in 1918 and the scuttling of the German fleet in Scapa Flow in 1919.
He transferred to the Royal Australian Navy and served in Fremantle as acting Torpedo Officer and Chief Demolition Officer in World War 2.
At the time of passing Claude was the world's last surviving combatant from the Great War, the last surviving ex-serviceman to have served in both world wars , and the oldest known man in Australia.
Claude received a naval funeral in this church on 20 May 2011with the Rector of Fremantle, The Reverend Canon Dennis Claughton officiating. Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard states 'Mr
