Jamestown 'Lines'

The Jamestown 'Lines' or Curtain Wall were originally built in the late 17th century to improve the defences of the harbour that had previously had St James Fort and two gun redoubts. It had 79 guns and East and main bastions. When Napoleon was imprisoned on the island, the defences were again upgraded with a moat being added, drawbridges and new East, West and Main Batteries and 64 guns.
The only piece of this structure left is in front of what is mow the Customs House which is around the site of the East Bastion.
