This is one of the markers on Liberty Road. The route taken by the Allies from Normandy to Bastogne passes through a large number of places. This marker commemorates the battles for Fort de La Cité d'Alet and the liberation of Saint-Malo.
The fort and the surrounding area were liberated by the 29th Infantry Regiment of the US Army, assisted by French troops. The names of the 40 American soldiers who died during the action are listed here, as well as a small plaque in memory of all those who fell during the battle for the liberation of Saint-Malo.
