Memorial Executed Resistance Fighters

This memorial commemorates the three resistance fighters who were shot dead here by the Germans on 5 January 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge.

The bronze plaque fixed to the boulder bears the following inscription:

'Passers-by, remember!
Here, on 5 January 1945,
three resistance fighters were murdered by the Nazis.
Fagnoul André (18 years old)
Hennes Edgar (19 years old)
Hennes Lucien (47 years old)

We must speak of our heroes, our martyrs....
To refrain from doing so would be to insult the past and compromise the future)

Father and son HENNES were buried in Sankt-Vith after the war.

André FAGNOUL was reburied in Gofontaine (Pepinster) after the war .
