Oosterhesselerbrug casemate
This casemate (type S 3A-35) was built in 1939, just like the casemate on the east side of the Oosterhesselenbrug, and was part of the so-called Q-In. This was one of the defensive lines that were intended to hold back the German army for as long as possible in the event of a German invasion of our country. This type of casemate, also known as Ştekelvarken, had three embrasures. At the top, there were iron hooks to which camouflage nets could be attached. In Drenthe, a few S-type casemates are still accessible.
