Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, was the seventh child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and had been Governor General of Canada between 1911-1916 and had also served in the British Army in South Africa, India and Canada.
General Wolfe (2 Jan 1727-13 Sep 1759), who had lived in Greenwich and is buried in St Alfege Church. is most remembered for his victory over the French at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in Quebec, Canada in 1759 at which he was mortally wounded.
