Memorial US Paratrooper Schijndel

This soldier from the 101st Airborne Division is sitting in front of the former Lidwina Convent. In September and October 1944, dozens of wounded American soldiers were hidden here by the nuns.

Similar statues can also be found at other historical sites within the 101st Airborne landing zone.

At the time this photo was taken (2025), the statue had been vandalised. Part of the rifle had been sawed off.
