Soviet Foxtrot Class Submarine

U-475 'Black Widow' is a Soviet Foxtrot Class submarine launched in Leningrad in 1967 and served with the Northern and Baltic Fleets and also as a training ship for foreign navies who were buying Foxtrot class submarines. Decommissioned in 1993. 'U-475 Black Widow' is a name invented by the present private owners, where as its Soviet designation was B-49 (B for Bolshaya meaning 'large') The Soviet Union built 75 Foxtrot class submarines, 17 of which were for Libya, Cuba and India. She was equipped with 6 bow torpedo tubes and 4 in the stern and carried upto 22 torpedoes and carried a crew of 78.
