The gunpowder magazine at Spaarnwoude was built in 1809 as part of the Kraijenhoff Posts. Only five of the sixteen planned magazines were actually built. The one at Spaarnwoude had a lightning rod but was demolished in 1829 due to vacancy and theft.
The site remained military property and was given a wooden shed around 1850, replaced by a brick building in 1870. In 2001, this was rebuilt as a residence, with the old foundation replaced by a concrete cellar. The magazine had double walls, ventilation grilles, and doors leading to an enclosed outdoor area.
From 1900 onward, it fell under Group Depot Halfweg no. 1. Some boundary markers remain; the guardhouse still exists, but its year of construction is unknown. The surrounding area is an open polder landscape. The building is privately owned, used as a residence, and is recognized as a provincial monument.
