Stelling van Amsterdam - Group Shelter 1918 Spaardam

A concrete shelter in the rampart along the paved road west of Spaarndam. Together with Fort north of Spaarndam, Fort south of Spaarndam, and the Voorstelling (Fortification) at Spaarndam, the rampart formed the so-called Position at Spaarndam. This Position was part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

The Voorstelling (Fortification) was built during the First World War because the existing defensive line was deemed too weak. It comprises a series of concrete shelters.
