Bomb Crater “Bommengat” Oudehorne

Hidden in the woods behind Oudehorne lies the bomb crater caused by the explosion of a 2,000-kilogram bomb during the crash of Lancaster B.MK.1 W4108 “UG-B”. The location can be reached on foot from the monument on Buitenweg, which commemorates the entire crew who perished in this crash.

Route:
Coming from Nieuwehorne, the Lancaster monument is on the left, just past house number 13. From there, continue to the unpaved Siebe Annesweg (on the right), turn right and take the path to house number 2. Just before the bend to the left, there is a small forest path on the right. Walk up this path and after a few metres you will find the bomb crater, which is marked with an information sign.
