Artwork "Lightning”

To the left of the entrance is the Esplanade Colonel René Boffy, where an artwork symbolizing a lightning has stood since July 2016. It is by the French sculptor Jean Laugier, aka "Beppo."

The caption reads: "Like lightning striking a thunderstorm on the morning of 15 August 1944, 9,000 paratroopers and 400 gliders landed on the La Motte plateau to liberate the Provence and France."
