War Memorial Cagny

This memorial was erected in the 1920s in memory of fourteen men from Cagny who died for France. It was built on the church forecourt, near the entrance gate. After the Second World War, the memorial was moved to the former town hall on Route de Paris 2. After the new town hall was built at its current location in 1993, it was decided to use the stones from the old castle guard's house, which had been in ruins for almost 50 years, to build this memorial, which refers to the local architecture and the damage caused by the war. In addition to the fourteen soldiers who died during the First World War, the memorial also bears the names of four soldiers and two civilians who died during the Second World War. There is also a plaque in memory of the soldiers and victims who died during combat operations in Indochina, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.
