Monument 325 Glider Infantry
A new memorial on the outskirts of Veghel commemorates a small unit action. A glider, on its way to Nijmegen , with men from the 325 Glider Infantry is forced to land in the middle of a German position on September 23rd.
For hours the 14 men desperately fight the enemy, killing 5 and wounding more. Then ammo runs out and many are wounded they are forced to surrender. They spend the rest of the war as POWs.
A new memorial, unveiled in 2024 commemorates the action. Not just the Americans, also the Germans. Unique!
