Memorial Battle of Nieuwveer

This Corten steel monument was unveiled in November 2025 in honour of the Polish liberators of North Brabant. In October 1944, fierce fighting took place here when Polish troops attempted to cross the River Mark. At least 16 Polish soldiers lost their lives. A QR code has been placed on the monument, which can be used to listen to the story of this battle.

The plaque reads in three languages:
“With this monument, we commemorate the battle of Nieuwveer at the end of October and beginning of November 1944. Thank you, Poland.”
