Belgian War Graves Sommerain

In the Sommerain cemetery lies the war grave of Florent Remy, who died in Ramskapelle on October 30, 1917, after being hit in the lung by a machine gun bullet.
He was a Private 2nd Class, 12th Line, 2nd Company. He was 24 years old.

The second war grave is that of René Monfort, who died for his country in Veldwezelt on May 10, 1940. He was a soldier with the 20th Artillery, 2nd Group, 4th Battery. He was killed when they tried to escape to Mopertingen via the St. Anthony's Hill, but their column was ambushed by a German. This immediately meant the end of the 4th Battery. He was 28 years old.
