The monument "Dem 1. Westprussian Grenadier Regiment Nr. 6 / Kleist von Nollendorf" is popularly known as the Kesseldenkmal (Cauldron Monument).
The Grenadier Regiment Graf Kleist von Nollendorf (1st West Prussian Regiment) No. 6 fought here on August 6, 1870, under the glorious banners of William the Great, suffering 320 dead and 586 wounded. The regiment's total losses during the 1870/71 campaign were 491 dead and 1,007 wounded. On both sides, as well as beneath the epitaph, are the names of the regiment's soldiers who fell on various battlefields during the conflict.
The monument, dedicated on July 6, 1901, is crowned by a large bowl in which the flame of remembrance burned during each commemoration. Previously, the bust of Kaiser Wilhelm I adorned the base of the monument. The date this disappeared remains unknown.
