Dutch War Graves Protestant Cemetery Driel

On the Protestant Cemetery behind the church is one grave of a resistance fighter from World War II.
This is the grave of Gerrit Peters, his profession was workman. Gerrit was executed in Arnhem on 3 may 1943, he was 45 years old.

On the Protestant Cemetery behind the church are the following graves:

Riet de Leeuw, born 11 Augustus 1927, died on 23 september 1944.

By war violence
she was killed. Brave
villagers have buried
her at this spot.
Every time hiding in the church
because the shelling
was too intense.
Her family had to flee
fear and grief remain
in memory.
That her grave
may be a beacon to
prevent war.
