Memorial Tree Maidstone

This memorial tree commemorates the fallen of World War II.

Text on the plaque which is fixed to the tree:
This Oak Tree was grown from an acorn from the British War Graves, Cemetery, Reichwald Forest, Germany and was presented to the Maidstone Town Council, by Mr R.A.Chapman in memory of his son, Sgt. 'Dick' Chapman 1st Bath Grenadier Guards, who died of wounds in April 1945 and as a memorial to all men who gave their lives in the Second World War. Planted by Ald. Mrs D.M.Relf (Mayor of Maidstone) February 1953.
