Tavronitis Bridge

This bridge has been witness of fighting on the first day of operation Mercury. The German Fallschirmjagers landed near the bridge with gliders. From the river, the Germans attacked the airfield of Maleme. A day later the Germans captured the airfield of Maleme. Today, there are still 'scars' from the battle.
