This is the grave of:

Squadron Leader (Pilot) Joseph Berry, DFC, 118435, RAF 501 Sqdn., died 02-10-1944, 24 years old.

Joe Berry was killed in Kibbelgaarn, a small village near Veendam. Berry was shot by a German soldier who was stationed in the radar site "Gazelle" at Veendam. This happened early in the morning at 6:15am. Berry at the time flew in a Tempest V, ED 600.
