Polish War Grave Municipal Cemetery

On the Municipal Cemetery in Alteveer is one Polish War Grave.
This is the grave of:

T.U. Bernard Grabowski, Polish Forces, died by liberation of Tange-Alteveer, 13-04-1945.

St. Strz. Bernard Grabowski T. U was born on 15-12-1918 in Krzywka p. Grudziadz in Poland. He had his army number 60466 and belonged to the 1 Pol. Dyv. Panc. (1st Polish Panzer Division). He died on 13-4-1945 in Tange. The exact cause of death is not entirely known. It is said that he was killed by a hand grenade by a surrendered German soldier. The German soldier is thereupon by the Poles.
