In 1954 the den came into the possession of the municipality of Diever and it was renovated for the first time. The original wooden shelter was rebuilt from concrete sheet piles and lined with pine logs. The cave had become somewhat smaller after this restoration. A second restoration took place in 1994. It was decided to restore the monument to its original state. The entire hiding place was dismantled and rebuilt. The cave was provided with a concrete prefab construction with a concrete roof. This roof construction also made it possible to add more soil to the cave than before. A planting was then applied, similar to the original situation. Inside the hut, the bag rack on which the escape bag was always packed was ready, and the underground bicycle shed was replaced.
